Painting

What happens when Mom and Dad are gone for the weekend?...
The girls take over and paint the mudroom!
Well thats what we did this weekend when Mom and Dad went to a convention in Steinbach.
this is the before picture.
This is the color of paint.
It looked pretty neat painting brown over blue.

We are all just having fun:)

Best sisters.
Just working as hard as we can.
And then painting the moldings was a big job.

Well we are not quite finished with the mudroom yet so there will be an after picture coming soon.

House Cleaning

Well now for about two weeks we have been busy with house cleaning, and it feels really good to finally be done, yes we finished today and it will be great to have it done with for the year.It felt really different doing it with out Rebecca but it worked.

So here are some pictures of this years fall house cleaning.

Right at the beginning of our house cleaning we made a list of all the rooms that we needed to do,after we had them all there were 21,yup that's alot of rooms.

The boys helped along in there bedroom.

Everyone working in the living room.

The kitchen is always a very big job but we did the cabinets one day and the walls another day so it wasn't as over whelming.
The School room.
The entrance.

And our bedroom, now that was a very big job, when you have three girls living in one bedroom that means there is lots of STUFF in there:)
Working together
Cleaning out the closets.
Then after a long afternoon of hard work this is what it looks like,we all thought it was worth it.
The pantry(after its finished.)
The finished product.

And now that we are finished we have absolutely nothing to do!(just kidding:)

But it will be great to have the house clean again(at least for a little while.)

Cleaning out the Corrals

Well now that we are done with harvest it has been busy with cleaning out the corrals. It took us about four to five days,we had four tractors and four manure spreaders going. Each tractor hauled about 25 loads each day. We hauled it to some of our fields for next years fertilizer.
On the last day it was cold and snowy but we got it done.

We have so much to be grateful for. God has given us safety throughout another job on the farm.
I'm very sorry to you all for not posting sooner Mom and us girls have been busy with fall cleaning.

Moving Cattle Home

For the summer months we move all our cows onto pastures near our farm. Throughout the summer they get rotated from one pasture to the next depending how the grass grows. This makes them used to being moved,so when the time comes for them to go home for the winter there is not a big problem getting them there as they are used being led and always eager to see what kind of pasture they will have next.

Here the 4 wheeler is backing up and they are following right behind it.

This fall we seeded some rye right next to our yard so they got a real treat and are able to enjoy something green as long the weather will hold up the white stuff that keeps falling.

For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon the thousand hills. Psalm 50:10

Thanksgiving 2009

Thanksgiving once again arrived and with it came lots to be thankful for. How else could parents feel but thankful when blessed with a family and children who are all living a life in the will of the Lord. God has given us so much. We were reminded of that in church this morning when the pastor went through Philippians 4:4-8. it is so easy for us to rejoice when times go good but we need to be reminded many times in our daily walk that the valleys also come from the Lord and He is taking us through them to teach us of His goodness then as well. So here are a few photos of our Thanksgiving Sunday at home with our children. The table set and ready for the bunch to gather around.
Mixing the punch to just the right taste. We were able to serve rhubarb and grape punch from our garden.

Henry and Josh taking the turkey apart.

Our family tradition for Thanksgiving is to place a kernel of corn by every ones plate. Before the meal starts we hand a container around and every one gets to place one kernel in it and as he does so he says what he is thankful for.

Some people needed more than 1 seed as there was so much to be thankful for.

Then the buffet line started and there was lots to fill every ones plates.

What will I take and what will I leave?
Enjoying the fellowship around the table.

Last but not least with a big meal come LOTS of dishes. Another thing to be thankful for. But thankfully there were lots of willing hands to help and that always makes it fun.

After the meal we gathered as a family and played games in different groups. While we were playing the snow was falling outside like a winter day(as you can see in the picture when you look at the window) It was really beautiful but not so for the many farmers how still have crops out in the field.

It is good to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most high: To show forth thy loving kindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night. Psalm 92:1&2
