Christmas 2009

Well this year we did our Christmas a little different then most years, but since Josh and Rebecca were in the city with Andrew we went out to spend Christmas with them.
We left Christmas day at around 12:00 and got to the city at 2:00,the weather was not the best for traveling but we made it.
We went to the hospital right away so that Mom,Dad,Josh and Beca could see AJ.
But while we were waiting Rebecca came out to the waiting room and told us that if we went to the window we could see Andrew. We were all VERY excited that we would actually be able to see him.
Rebecca had asked a nurse if she could open the curtain. That way her family could she him,she didn't mind at all,mom had the camera in the nursery so she got a picture of all us looking in.

Mom brought the camera out latter on and I got to take pictures of AJ for the first time!

Rebecca got to take his monitors off of Andy and then she brought him up to the window.Josh and Beca had been saying how much he had grown already but we couldn't believe how tiny he still was!

Papa holding AJ...

and just having a wonderful time.
From the outside looking in. :)
Then after everyone was done at the hospital we went the hotel to spend the rest of the day and night there.
We spent time at the pool and everyone had a great time.

Christmas day!!!

And so it was that while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

And she brought forth her first born son,and wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger;because there was no room for them in the inn.

Luke 2:6-7

And lo,the angel of the Lord come upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them, and they were sore afraid.

And the angel said unto them,Fear not:for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

And this shall be a sign unto you;Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, and lying in a manger.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God,and saying.

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

Luke 2:9-14

And they came with haste, and found Marry and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.

And when they had seen it,they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.

Luke 2:16-17

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ONE AND ALL,AND TO ALL A HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

From the Penner family

Christmas Greetings

Greetings to our circle of family and friends.
Here is in short the review of our past year.
Great and marvelous are the works of the Lord! He has once again led us through another year of life and service to Him. This also has been another year where we have learned to lean on the Lord even more as we journey through this life. Again and again we are reminded how little we can do in our own strength and need to be in step with the Master.
This past year has taken us over many pathways that we had never traveled before. The beginning of the year started off with wedding plans and showers for our daughter Rebecca and her soon to be husband Josh. We has a wonderful experience with all this and once again were reminded how sacred and perfect God created marriage to be. It brought back many happy memories of the time Henry and myself stood before the marriage alter. How exciting to see a young couple so much in love start life together as husband and wife.
We have also gone through another season of spring time and harvest. With it have come the challenges of farming life. It was a very cool summer and we would have adjusted the temperature different had we been in control. But thankfully that is not possible and the Master of this universe gave us just what He thought we needed. What a bountiful harvest we were able to gather into our bins. We were so clearly taught that God has the sun, wind and rain in His hands.
Our garden yielded bountifully again this summer. We were able to fill all our jars with canned goods and stock the freezers with the needed produce for another year. It is such a satisfaction to see the supply of food ready to be used in the winter months. I count it a privilege to be able to pass this heritage on to our children. There is alot of work involved in gardening and putting up canned goods, but I am thankful that I can do it together with the children. It tends to save a lot on the trips to the grocery stores.
Besides being busy with the regular work and chores on the farm this summer we were able to take a few short holidays. As a family we went camping and visiting to Sask. for a few days. Friends invited us to their cabin at Kenora and we spent a few days there. We enjoyed the beautiful handiwork's of God as we went out on the lake and saw the awesome scenery and wildlife. Fishing was a highlight for the boys. In early summer we went to camp with the youth and did the cooking for them for the weekend. Our other camping was done close to home. We ventured out into a bush across the road where the children had made some campsites(very primitive)and we have spent several nights there. Seeing it is close to home we did the chores in the morning and then went back for a breakfast that was cooked on an open fire. These are things that take the least time, money and effort but build lots of memories.
This past year has also been an eventful year for our children. Some good others great and some not so good. In Feb. Reuben had an accident where he broke both feet and had to be in a wheelchair for 6 weeks. Something that a boy of 11 is not designed for. Reuben being very active on the farm found it very difficult to be confined for that period of time. Both legs have healed and he is very thankful for feet that take him where he is needed. In the summer we had the joy of experiencing Ryan,Raechelle and Rita's baptism. An exciting event to see young people make the decision to follow the Lord. Ryan has once again been helping his uncle with his baling business and when that season was over he has been working for a building contract er. Raechelle reached a milestone in her life where she finished school and is now helping with teaching her younger siblings. The children have all grown in taking on responsibilities with work around the farm and in the home. Summer is busy and there is always an opportunity to help out with farm work which they have been very faithful in doing. With some of the older ones doing more of the farm work it is time for the younger ones to step up to the plate and do some chores as well.
Henry and myself had been serving in the church as a commissioned deacon couple for the past three years. Now this month we were ordained to further serve in the church. At times we do not feel that we can d that which is required of us. We ask for your prayers as we do this work for the Lord. That He would give us wisdom and insight to serve Him. We want to thank each one of you for your prayers and support.
Another very exciting moment that took place in our lives this past year was when we became grandparents in Nov. To get the message"IT"S A BOY" almost swept us mothers off of our feet as we had been waiting for this call. Andrew was born 10 weeks early and weighed 3lbs. 2 1/2oz. AJ is still in the hospital and needs a little more time to get used to life here on this earth before he can come home with his proud mommy and daddy. God to had a plan for this to happen in such a way and we trust Him to see Josh and Rebecca through this time. What joy to receive another little person into our family! His aunties and uncles are almost beside themselves as they have not been able to see their little nephew yet. But all in good time they to shall be able to hold and hug Andy! We thank the Lord that Andrew has been doing so well and has not had any major setbacks.
As we sign off for another year we pray that the God of all help and strength will be with you and your family in the time to come. And to our Great God we are thankful that He has provided a way for us. The birth of our Lord Jesus gave us the gift of eternal life. But it cost Jesus His life.
Thanks be to God for His unspeakable gift. 2 Cor.9:15
From our family to ours,Blessings this holiday season

My little brother Randy

Well just the other day it was beautiful outside and so Randy and I thought it would be fun to go out and take some pictures of him.
We had a great time and I just wanted to share the pictures with you.
On some of the pictures Randy's got some pretty goofy smiles but that's just Randy :)

Lets just say posing for a camera is not his perfection :)

Visiting our Grandson

Yesterday we finally got to the city again. After not having seen our precious little grandson for over a week we as grandparents were very happy to see him. Not only did we see him,but for the very first time we were able to hold Andrew! This was very special. It makes it even more exciting to be grandparents. Andrew has now come off of all the tubes for breathing and does all his own breathing. He has made so much progress in the last while which we are so thankful for. He has also gained some weight as you can tell on his face he is even getting a little bit of a double chin! We have been so grateful for all the prayers of our friends during this time. It is not an easy time for Josh and Rebecca to spend so much time away from their home and family but through the prayers of you all it has been possible.
This is the cute little guy that looked into our faces when we got to the hospital.

Can't you just see how happy Granddaddy is?

Grandmother none the less!

Good bye little love bug! Rest and grow strong till we come to see you again soon. We love you Andy.

My grace is sufficient for thee:for my strength is made perfect in weakness.

Happy Belated Birthday Raechelle

November came and went so quickly that I never did get the time to post for our last Nov. birthday. But none the less Raechelle we love you and appreciate you just the same. Raechelle Ann came to be with our family 17 years ago on Nov. 25 th. It's been a joy having had the opportunity to get to know yet another person and character. Each child comes to you in a different package. Raechelle you have been so great to have around. I would say out of all our girls you would reassemble your mother the most. You like to get down to the point, you need to know whats happening and what will get done the next. With you around things are pretty organized and the work gets done. A very nice thing when I am not around,I can usually rely on the work getting done when Rae is home and I am gone. Rae likes routine and changes are not so easy for her. I realized that when her sister Rebecca got married this year and the adjustments that we all had to make were the hardest for her to make. But then becoming an Auntie was an easy adjustment and a joy to make for her. Raechelle has a wide range of interests and enjoys alot of the things that go on around the farm. She loves the outdoors as well as the housework. Which is a plus to both her father and mother. When dad needs help with things on the farm she is ready to lend a helping hand. But on the other hand housework is also something Raechelle does willingly. Some of her favorite things to do in her spare time are horses, taking pictures and making cards, plus there are many others.

Trying to get the shot just right.

Got ya that time!

GRADUATION !

We love you Raechelle and wish you God's guidance in the year ahead. Mom and Dad.

Sisters conversation while doing dishes by Raechelle

Today after supper all the girls were cleaning up the kitchen, while I was wiping all the counters,Rita was washing the dishes, and Ruth was drying the dishes, this is the conversation I heard.

Rita: I'm feeling quite tired this evening,

Ruth: How come is that?

Rita: I think it must be because of our horse ride this afternoon, and my head is hurting abit,I think it might be a sinus.

Ruth: What is a sinus?

Rita: Its when you have lots of pressure in your head from a cold or something and then it hurts at your temples.

Ruth: What are temples?

Rita: don't know where your temples are?

Ruth: In Jerusalem? :)

Rita: Well you obviously don't have any. :)

Thats what you get when you have sisters. :)

Baking Buns,buns and buns

On Saturday Rita and I had a big day of baking,we were having a fellowship lunch at church and we had volunteered to bake ALL the buns,500 buns,300 brown and 200 white. So you can imagine we had quite a big day,but it was actually not to over whelming, since I got to do it with my very dear sister we enjoyed ourselves very much.
So here are some pictures of our Saturday.

The recipe we used from Jen Pauls, thanks alot Jen :)

This is our good old dough mixer,we were not quite sure if it would last so we brought my sister Rebeccas down just in case but nothing ever went wrong and we used ours right through.

Mixing the dough.

Rita rolling the buns (shes just a little camera shy :)

The buns rising.
And in the stove.
Our two ovens we used also worked very well right through the day.
Rita the baking pro.
She always had everything under control cause.....
she even had time to e-mail Jen and Kerri every once in a while :)
Doing a demonstration for the brothers, they were amazed at how fast she could work :)
Here Rita is not quite sure if shes doing the right thing, but for the most part she always knew what she was doing :)
A perfect batch of buns.
yummy,yummy.

Oh and we always have time for sisters picture.

The stack of buns in the boxes after they were all done.

Yup we started at 10:00 a.m. and we were done at 7:31 p.m. We had a great day and we got everything done .

And then after we were all finished we just had to try a jumping picture, lets just say we didn't get one where we were both in the air at the same time :)

Yay Rita !!!
