Butchering Day

March 25 was butchering say at the Penner Farm shop. With about 15 -20 of the farm people around to help the work went pretty quickly and was actually lots of fun. And also rewarding if I may add. To put a supply of meat in the freezer to feed the crew is rewarding!

It all starts in the barn where we raise these curious critters. We kept a few back that we didn't ship to the killing plant and tackled the job ourselves.

De boning the meat before it gets put through the meat grinder.

Reuben and Brain had the job of grinding the meat.

Its always nice to see smiles on the peoples faces as they work.

Measuring the packages so they are almost all the right size.

Boneless pork chops.

My sweetheart! Abit tired as you can see,but after all its been a pretty long day!

The rows of sausages that our son in law Josh made with the help of Rita and Nathan.

Raymond and James were doing the labeling. They enjoyed putting some of their artistic work on some of the packages. Which is kind of nice later on when you get the packages out of of the freezer. It brings happy memories back from the day.

This package is labeled GB for ground beef.

Ruth did a video of some of us wrapping. Towards the end of the day it can become kind of funny at times.

Hauling Wheat

Now that it's getting closer to spring we sell most of the grain that's on the yard and make room in the bins for the new grain coming in when we harvest.
since we live pretty far away from an elevator we just fill up train cars and that way we just need to haul it right into town which is only 3/4 mile from our yard and that makes it alot easier.
Today was one of those days when we were hauling grain to town and we ended up getting a really neat looking car with lot's of graffiti on it,so here are some pictures of hauling grain today.

The boys are getting spring fever so they were really excited that they got to go along with Daddy on the truck.

They even got to climb up to the top of the car.

The view from the top.

The cool car :)

Sun Shine

Well last week for the whole entire week we had no sun shine,we were all getting pretty tired of not having the sun around,so by the the beginning of this week we were all really looking forward to the sunny weather that was in the forecast, thankfully we got all of that sun shine and everyone enjoyed it VERY much.
Here are some pictures of our sun shinny week!

Can you imagine what it would be like if there was all of a sudden a week where Jesus would just not shine or live in our lives and watch out for us and love us,we'd feel pretty cold and empty on the inside and it would be alot worse then just missing out on the literal sun shine.

Praise GOD that Jesus is ALWAYS there for us!!!

Memoreis Monday

In memory of our little Rosalyn who was born March 14 th 2003.
You were with us for one short week before you went back to your makers arms. We have many memories of that short week. But we know for certain that she is experiencing no illness and that she now has a prefect whole heart. Here are some pictures to lead you through the week that we spent with our little loved one.

A poem that our daughter Rebecca wrote for Rosalyn's memory card.

A wee bit of heaven

Drifted down from above

A handful of happiness

A heart full of love.

But God saw it better

To take her back to Him

So that this little sweetheart

Won't have to live in this world of sin.

On earth she was our angel

So cute and precious to us all.

We would have liked to keep her here

But God wanted her when she was small.

Our little ROSE now blooms,

in a garden up above,

And even if we cannot see her,

We know God's watching her with love.

We ask God to help us

To understand His will,

To help us to grow closer to Him,

And our hearts with love to fill.

We love you little Rosie and are waiting to meet you once again someday.

Your family

"Fear thou not;for I am with thee:be not dismayed;for I am thy God:I will strengthen thee;yea,I will help thee;yea,I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness."

Isaiah 41:10

Pasta Day at the Penners

Last week we got a BIG batch of pasta mixed. We used 25 pounds of flour and about 7 dozen eggs. After we got that mixed we were busy making it into noodles.

Everyone was kept busy for awhile rolling the dough till it was thin enough with a noodle machine and then the same machine cuts it into noodles as well.

We hung them up to dry for a few days and put them into containers for storing.

This gave us lots of pasta to last us for a year. Handy for any recipes calling for noodles.
